Rhode Island’s Federal Legislators Will Address the Response to the Coronavirus Outbreak
WPRI-TV 12 Brings Together Nearly 1.5 Million Viewers Across Rhode Island via Television Broadcast and Streaming Video
PROVIDENCE, RI and IRVING, TX (May 18, 2020) – Nexstar Broadcasting, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Nexstar Media Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: NXST), announced today that it will host an exclusive live virtual Town Hall meeting, “COVID-19 Congressional Town Hall,” featuring all four members of Rhode Island’s Congressional delegation on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. ET. The Town Hall will include U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D), U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D), U.S. Representative David Cicilline (D-1), U.S. Representative James Langevin (D-2), who will address the federal response to the coronavirus pandemic and take questions from viewers across Rhode Island. Due to restrictions on large gatherings, the Senators and Representatives will remotely join the broadcast and web stream.
The one-hour virtual Town Hall will be hosted from the studios of WPRI-TV 12 in Providence, RI, and bring together nearly 1.5 million viewers across Rhode Island via television broadcast and streaming video. The broadcast will air live from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET. The exclusive television broadcast will be hosted by WPRI-TV reporter and Target 12 Investigator, Tim White, and WPRI-TV Politics Editor, Ted Nesi. It will air on WPRI-TV 12 (CBS), WNAC-TV (FOX), and on be available on wpri.com. Viewers are invited to submit questions via social media using the hashtag #12TownHall. Viewers can also submit questions via 12Responds@wpri.com.
The Town Hall will open with a review of the latest developments in the battle against the pandemic, after which Mr. White and Mr. Nesi will pose questions to Senators Reed and Whitehouse about relief efforts across the state. Mr. White and Mr. Nesi will also speak with U.S. Representatives Cicilline and Langevin about the specific needs of their districts and feature questions posed by viewers.
