‘“From the desert to the sea, to all of Southern California” was a trademark phrase used by the late news anchor Jerry Dunphy. It signified the vast size of the Los Angeles DMA, which includes such High Desert communities as Barstow and Ridgecrest and Beach Cities bearing the names Manhattan, Redondo and Hermosa.’
